Debit Card and Pin Security
Your debit card and PIN help protect access to your account. Please take care to keep them secure and follow the guidance below to reduce the risk of fraud or unauthorised use.
Keeping your debit card and PIN secure
Treat your debit card and PIN with the same care as your cash. Never write your PIN down in a way that could be found by someone else, and never send it by email or any other messaging channel.
When using an ATM, shield the keypad when entering your PIN so that other people cannot see it. Do not accept help from anyone else while using the ATM.
If your debit card is lost, stolen or retained by a machine, please notify FirstBank UK immediately by calling +44 207 826 3025. This line is available 24 hours a day.
Extra security for online card payments
When making online purchases with participating retailers, you may be asked to register for 3D Secure. This provides an additional layer of security when shopping online and helps reduce the risk of fraud.
As part of this process, you may be asked for an alphanumeric password that was previously provided as part of your account opening process.
Once you have registered for 3D Secure, you will not be able to cancel that registration. However, you can reset your password by selecting “Forgot your Password” or by calling us on +44 207 826 3025 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
3D Secure is an additional security feature for your card. It does not replace any security obligations set out in the Terms and Conditions of your FirstBank UK Debit Card.
What you should do if you are concerned
If you think your debit card or PIN may have been compromised, please contact us immediately on +44 207 826 3025.
